We have started a new project called ‘Modernisation and implementation of an integrated system for collecting, sharing and processing environmental geological information’. This is a comprehensive initiative aimed at thoroughly modernising the existing Geoenvironmental Map of Poland (Polish abbreviation: MGŚP) system.
The project is a response to the existing limitations of the MGŚP system, providing a modern, effective and integrated tool supporting the management of environmental resources and the implementation of key administrative and educational tasks. The implementation of modern IT solutions will not only increase the availability of geological data but also improve its processing and sharing. The entire project is in line with the obligations arising from the Act on Geological and Mining Law, which makes the project crucial for the management of natural environment resources.
Why is this important?
- Improved data quality and availability: Upgrading the system will enable precise geological information to be collected and quickly made available, which is essential for administrative decision-making and spatial planning.
- Support for institutions: The new system will be a tool for government, local authorities and environmental institutions, enabling them to better manage natural resources.
- Elimination of technological debt: The project will allow, through the implementation of modern technologies, the organisation and improvement of data processing, which will translate into more effective operation of the entire system.
What does the project include?
Development of a modernisation concept
- At the beginning, an IT concept will be prepared, including an analysis of the functional, qualitative (performance, availability, reliability, scalability) and non-functional requirements of the system.
Modernisation of the MGŚP system
- Implementation of modern technical solutions that will improve the processing and production of geological data and the creation of cartographic products.
- Integration with existing systems.
- Upgraded system components will be integrated with PGI-NRI systems, enabling comprehensive and efficient information management.
Training and implementation
- At the end of the project, implementation measures and user training are planned to maximise the use of the new system capabilities.
Funding The project is co-financed by the European Funds under the FENX.02.04 programme.
