The fossil week – The 5th International Palaeontological Congress in Paris
The 5th International Palaeontological Congress (IPC) under the auspices of the International Palaeontological Association (IPA) was held in Paris from the 9th to 13th of July 2018. This great festival of palaeontology has been held regularly every four years since 2002. This time, the event was attended by over 1000 scientists from around the world, and the Polish Geological Institute - National Research Institute (PGI-NRI) was represented by Izabela Ploch.
The southern Baltic cliffs – what changes do they face?
How fast are the coastal cliffs retreating inland? Which areas may be more affected in the future? Why are the cliffs in some areas eroded faster than those in others? And when and where will the next landslide happen? Most of us probably ask such questions when strolling on the beach beside the steep slopes of cliffs.
Celebration of the 25th Salt Water Intrusion Meeting (SWIM)
Between the 17th and the 25th of June 2018, the 25th Salt Water Intrusion Meeting (SWIM) was held in Gdańsk. This jubilee conference was co-organised by the Polish Geological Institute – National Research Institute (PGI-NRI), and six of our staff presented six scientific posters as well as articles covering various aspects of salt water intrusions.

The latest edition of “The balance of mineral resources deposits in Poland” (in Polish) is available online. In the publication Polish Geological Institute-National Research Institute (PGI-NRI) presented data on almost 14 thousand mineral raw materials deposits documented in Poland as of 31.12.2017.
