The upper silesian branch of the PGI-NRI implements an innovative project to reduce methane emissions
On 30-31 March 2023, a meeting was held to kick-off the implementation of the project titled "Reduction of methane emissions from post-mining goafs to minimise their inflow into VAM” (RME), co-funded by the EU’s Research Fund for Coal and Steel (RFCS) and the Ministry of Education and Science. The project will be completed in July 2027.
Critical raw materials in the new european commission regulation and list
On 16 March 2023, the European Commission published the proposed draft regulation on critical and strategic raw materials for the EU economy. The document also disclosed a new and updated list of critical raw materials (CRM).
Working meeting in madrid as part of the geological service for europe project
On 8-9 March 2023, the Geological Institute (IGME) in Madrid held a working meeting of the task group No. 7 (WP7) of the European project Geological Service for Europe (GSEU). The Polish Geological Institute - NRI was represented during the meeting by Marcin Słodkowski, Katarzyna Jóźwik and Urszula Stępień from the Geological Mapping Department.
Polish Geological Institute - NRI continues exploration of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge using state-of-the-art technology
On February 17, 2023, the Polish Geological Institute - National Research Institute (PGI-NRI) signed a contract with the Norwegian company Argeo Survey AS for detailed exploration and data acquisition in selected areas of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge (Leg 2).
